Supporting Our Youth and Families: Immigration Resources and Tools for Community Safety

With the changes in our federal administration, JCYC would like to share a few resources and sites that may be helpful for all of us as we continue to support our youth and children:

1.         Rapid Response Network (RRN) — The Rapid Response Network is a collaborative program to respond to heightened enforcement actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

24 Hour Hotline: To report ICE activity in San Francisco call (415)-200-1548 (language capacity in Spanish, Arabic, Cantonese, and Mandarin).

Raid Verification: RRN conducts raid verification for all calls of alleged ICE Enforcement activity within San Francisco. Raid verification is an important component of their work in order to dispel myths and lessen fear.  They will physically go and verify or announce false alarms to rumors about ICE activity.

Attorney Activation: If an individual is detained after an ICE raid or ICE Activity RRN will activate their attorneys to go down to 630 Sansome (immigration processing center) to file for representation of the individual.   They will also work to secure long term representation if the person needs it.

2.         Legal Consults If students and families have concerns regarding possible ICE arrests, and would like to consult with an attorney to be prepared in case of ICE contact and to determine if they are eligible for immigration relief. Here are some resources to find an attorney:

City of San Francisco Immigrant Support website

Bar Association of San Francisco(415) 989-1616

SF Rapid Response Network: (415) 200-1548

3.         Know Your Rights The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has created a multilingual Know Your Rights Toolkit that has a variety of materials to educate communities and prepare individuals for possible encounters with immigration authorities.

We are dedicated to supporting our community and will continue to provide opportunities for learning and engagement on these critical issues.
